Today, Micah and Alex discuss another useful Spanish phrase you can use regularly with your child!

Micah
Hey everyone, Micah here with TruFluency Kids. I’m with my favorite gal, Alex.

Alex
Hello. Hola Hola.

Micah
Today, we are gonna continue the fight for our kids’ bilingualism. And of course, we always want to teach the parents, if you don’t speak Spanish, how you can help your kids by interweaving phrases into your daily life. So, Alex, what phrase or question are we going to learn today?

Spanish Phrase – How to say “Where are you going” in Spanish: ¿A dónde vas?

Alex
¿A dónde vas?

Micah
Where are you going? And for all the grammar nerds out there, we’re saying “a” at the beginning because it means “to where”. So, in English, we put the preposition a lot of times at the end. What are you looking for? Where are you going? No, we don’t say to but that’s what the “a” is at the beginning just in case you’re curious. And so, ok Alex, I’m gonna ask you some questions and you tell me where you’re going. So we’re gonna tell you how to ask the question guys and then we’re gonna tell you what you need to respond also. So Alex: ¿A dónde vas?

Alex
Voy a la cocina.

Micah
She’s going to the kitchen. So she said I’m going to the kitchen. Alex: ¿A dónde vas?

Alex
Voy al supermercado.

Micah
Ah, grab me some food. Alex: ¿A dónde vas?

Alex
Voy a mi casa.

Micah
Aww she’s leaving. She says I’m going home – to my home. Alex: ¿A dónde vas?

Alex
Voy el parque.

Micah
Ahh very good. Ok, guys. We’re gonna do it one more time and this time I want you to do it with us parents if you can. And so, we’re gonna put the words at the bottom of the screen of each thing that we’re saying. Alex: ¿A dónde vas?

Alex
Voy a la cocina.

Micah
Alex: ¿A dónde vas?

Alex
Voy al supermercado.

Micah
¿A dónde vas?

Alex
Voy a mi casa.

Micah: ¿A dónde vas?

Alex
Voy el parque.

Micah
Awesome. Alright guys, that’s our lesson today before the dog takes over the video. See you next time at the next Spanish weekly phrase.
