About This Resource
This guide will present you with some of the best Spanish learning schools from the Plano Independent School District (PISD) (see map), which is number 16 in the Best School Districts in Texas list, and 16th in the Most Diverse School Districts in Texas.
The PISD has a multilingual education that consists of English as a Second Language (ESL) and Dual/Bilingual programs. They want to make sure that students end up mastering the English language, while still learning common academic subjects.
We’ll show you mostly Spanish bilingual programs, because that means that the language of the non-native English speakers is Spanish; if it were an ESL program, the students could be native speakers of many other languages.
To enroll your kids in a bilingual program you’ll need to see which campus has enough availability. Plano ISD will try to enroll your kid in the campus that is closest to your home. If you have more questions regarding PISD’s registration you should take a look at their enrollment page.
We will also show you some private schools, preschools, and after-school Spanish programs, because every parent and kid has different budgets, schedules, and language needs.

Plano ISD Two-Way Dual-Language Program
On 28 January 2022, Plano ISD gave the news of a possible two-way dual language program. Since then, it has become a reality. The two-way dual language program consists of English native speakers and Spanish native speakers in the same class together. They take all the subjects in English and Spanish, so they’ll become bilingual and biliterate in both languages while still acquiring academic knowledge.
Teachers are trained to learn special methods so that the children’s education doesn’t suffer if they don’t know the other language yet.
Since it’s new, the program is only being offered for kindergarten during this school year. When children pass this school year, the program will grow to other grade levels. The ISD two-way dual language program lasts until 5th grade.
If your child is an English speaker, he can only be admitted in the program after kindergarten if he has already studied in another district with a dual language program. On the other hand, if your kid is a native Spanish speaker who is learning English, he can be admitted at any time. Both cases have to see if there’s space available for them in the program.
If you want to know which schools offer this new modality, you can contact them. They said in their frequently asked questions: “The feedback from our survey demonstrating community interest will be one of the factors considered in order to determine location.” So, the schools that offer this modality was based on parent interest.
You should also visit Plano ISD academics website for more information about their different programs and Plano ISD website for news and announcements.
