Are you a mom or a dad looking for your kids to learn Spanish? Congrats! That’s one of the best things you’ll do for your kids. Spanish will bring many benefits to their present and future lives.

Now you might be wondering which school and method would be the best for them. Well, you’ve clicked on the right blog! We’re about to show you a little bit of what we did this week at TruFluency Kids online Spanish classes, so you can get to know us a little bit more.

Speaking of getting to know each other, we learned how to introduce ourselves in Spanish this week. Let’s pay attention, class is about to start!

Spanish Books for Kids: “El niño nuevo” (The new kid)

For this week we read the first chapters of the book titled “El niño nuevo”. Here’s the first page of an original Spanish story for Spanish learners from TruFluency Kids, with all keywords and most used phrases in bold:

  • Bienvenido a la escuela La Buena Vida. / Welcome to the School “The Good Life”.
  • Este es el salón donde enseña la maestra Luz. / This is the classroom where the teacher Luz teaches.
  • Hoy es un día especial porque va a llegar un estudiante nuevo. / Today is a special day because a new student will arrive.
  • La maestra Luz dice: ¡Atención! Él es el niño nuevo. Vamos a saludarlo todos juntos. Primero lo primero, dinos cómo te llamas. / Teacher Luz says: Attention! He is the new kid. Let’s go say hi all together. First things first, tell us what your name is.
  • Félix dice: Hola. Mmm. Me llamo Félix. / Félix says: Hello. Mmm. My name is Félix.
  • Los niños dicen: Hooo-laaa, Féee-liiix. / The kids say: Heee-llooo, Féee-liiix.
  • Un niño dice: Félix hola. / A kid says: Félix hello.

Ask a Spanish Question to Your Kids to Practice Speaking Spanish

When teaching Spanish, you must know our teachers are fully prepared to help your kids practice Spanish, not just memorize words. One way of doing this is by asking questions in Spanish to the students.

You can also help them at home. We recommend that parents ask questions about the storybook to get the kids talking.

Here’s an example from our PDF for parents about the current “El niño nuevo” Spanish curriculum:

  • ¿Cómo se llama la escuela? = What is the name of the school?
  • La escuela se llama “La Buena Vida”. = The name of the school is “La Buena Vida”. (The Good Life)

Answering in complete sentences is key to gaining confidence in fluency. Do not accept Yes/No answers or single word answers like What’s your name? Felix. The answer should be My name is Felix.

Give Your Child the Gift of Spanish!

What Do Our Kids’ Spanish Classes Include?

Remember that what we just showed you is just a small part of our curriculum for this week at TFK classes.

But if you loved the idea of learning through a story and are already invested in Félix’s adventure, we have good news! Our curriculum comes with awesome tools to help your kids have even more fun while learning:

  • A Spanish Interactive StoryTelling Book to read at home. Stories are a great way to remember new words and phrases, and get kids talking about what happened to Felix!
  • A song to help solidify the vocabulary and phrases in a fun and memorable way
  • Live classes to practice speaking in real conversations (if you’re interested)
